Palin is a walking and talking Barbie Doll so indicative of the values of the Fox crowd. I lived in Alaska for many years, am a Republican but I am grateful I was out of there before this ditzy woman got her hands on the state. Now though, she is just a big has-been even there, and you can tell that by the fact that she keeps TRYING to make herself relevant. But, wow, how she even flunks that small assignment. Ditzy is her middle name!

It's my understanding that the Keystone pipeline would go through some very fertile farmland and the Ogalala aquifer, and that a spill would be devasting to the wheatbelt of our country. The pipeline would provide union jobs to build it, but the profits from the oil would not be American and it would not lower costs to Americans because oil is sold on a world market. Sarah Palin in an idiot and John Stossel is a spoiled, self-serving faux Libertarian fool.

Not to give Bible Spice too much of a break but; America is woven with piplines. Granted, it's a crap shoot to decide what is worse, if there is a pipeline rupture. Tar sand oil, light crude, heavy crude, gasoline, fuel oil, etc. The vast majority of these piplines run right through the midwest farming country, the "Heartland of America" as they say.

We all know that eventually this pipeline will be built, the only question being the exact route it will run.

Then the Canadian oil companies will have a direct line to Texas refineries, and a deep water port to ship it to the rest of the world.

I hope other people check out your map. I was completely unaware of the number of pipelines and their placements. I lived in Southern California when a train crashed in a neighborhood and killed some people and destroyed a couple of homes. A few weeks later, the gas line near the tracks ruptured and exploded and more people were killed and lots of homes were destroyed. Energy is important, we can't live our modern life without it, but the side effects are ugly and occasionally very dangerous.

Those would be the Big Guys ( pipe lines ) , there must be thousands of smaller pipe lines that run across every State, County and City in America . Each and everyone of them just waiting to Rupture . I'm lucky, I have a Brand New High Pressure Gas line in my Front Yard !

Yeah, there is a high pressure gas line about a block from my house. Too bad for the apartment complex that it runs by if there should be an accident. Of course, I also have a low pressure line running to the house. Danger, however underplayed, is always part of a technological society.

Here is a map of the gas/oil lines that run along the bottom of the gulf off the Texas and Louisianna coast. They connect all the well heads and drilling platforms to the shore to get the oil and gas out of the gulf. After Katrina one of the big issues was cleaning up the mess without rupturing any of the lines.

I spend a lot of time outside at parks and nature preserves and the one thing that I have noticed through the years is that pipelines are everywhere. I learned a few years ago that the only reason that we do not have fires and explosions all the time from leaking natural gas lines is that the psi in them is only about 4. If they used a higher amount they would leak everywhere. This was told to me by the inspector from my utility sent to inspect a line that was damaged in my yard. He told me that since the pipe was not leaking from the obvious damage it was best to cover it back up, cutting out and replacing the damaged section would just lead to more leaks.

Actually, high pressure transportation gas lines will run from 200 to 1500 psi. The low pressure lines that feed homes usually run in the 4 psi range.

You still have to worry about explosions from low pressure lines, that is why you should always report any gas leaks. If your basement fills up with gas and reaches an ignition source you could be toast. (literally)

Even though I am no fan of wrestling, the only thing fake about it, is that the outcomes of the matches are determined ahead of time, and the guys sort of plan out the matches ahead of time as well.

That being said, those guys need to be fit and pretty darn athletic.

Someone really needs to inform these freaks that oil prices are going down without new pipelines and drilling in protected areas.

BTW. We have more domestic coal mining and oil and gas drilling right now than at any point in either Bush's reign. I guess that President Obama is "standing in the way of domestic energy production" in the same way that he's "plotting to take our guns away".

I really did enjoy the ANWR comment. One of the bleakest, hard to get to places around, and she thinks we should go drill there.

Of course, people like Bible Spice, don't really care if there is an oil spill in the ANWR. It isn't in their backyard (literally) so they don't care.

For those who wonder what would happen if the tea party was in charge I would like to tell you about Villa Hills, KY. A small town 3 miles from my house that was voted the most livable city in America in 2010. Mayor Mike Martin became mayor in 2010 and he made news by having a back hoe destroy a safe in the parking lot to open it. The list of things he has done is unbelievable but is being very well exposed by some local residents on this blog

            Your text to link here...

Here is a list of some of his recent adventures

Let's consider the issue of the document destruction. The Martin Chronicles has been relaying the facts of that scandal since it happened on January 5, 2012. Despite strong warnings from the City Attorney and the Kentucky League of Cities to preserve ALL City records during the lawsuit, a large volume of those records was targeted for destruction in a hastily dug firepit. Had it not been for the chance arrival of law enforcement, no one would have ever discovered what happened.

We know that State statutes mandating the legal prcedure for the destruction of documents were ignored.
We know that Martin told the Public Works Director to keep the destruction a secret.
We know that Martin questioned the Public Works Director and the Police Chief on January 6, 2012 in an unsuccessful attempt to learn what documents had been recovered-and logged in as evidence.
We know that a document was falsified that afternoon outlining what had been destroyed.
We know that the falsified document was back-dated to January 3, 2012 and signed by a temporary clerk who was supposed to have been hired to "help out with tax season". Why didn't the Custodian of Records-the interim City Clerk-sign the falsified document?
We know that strong evidence exists that the wanton document destruction continued even after January 6, 2012.
We know that Martin falsely assured council that all of the records destroyed were on the falsified list.
We know that Martin was rebuked by a judge on April 26, 2012 when it was proven in court that the falsified list was, how to politely put it, very incomplete.

The city was picked the number one most livable city 2 years ago and is now the laughing stock of the area because of the tea party mayor and some members of their city counsel.

The tea party mayor did not want to release documents so he dug a hole behind the city office and tried to burn them.

I have met a lot of crazy people in my life and you stirred an old one. When my son was ten we went to a friends house so he could trick or treat with her son. When I walked in her house i asked her "who is that guy in your front yard cussing out the oak tree". She said that it was her uncle and he started screaming in the house and she made him go outside.

Are you her uncle that I saw that day horse?

          - Being retired, I do have some spare time (when I'm not doing chores).

          - I did not "think of porno", I thought about porn stars, which is what I wrote.

          - Can't say whether or not I'm "normal" but I do know that folks with a good sense of humor often think, as Steve Allen described, in parallel - the mind analyzes something in a normal way as well as in a comedic way, often an absurdly comedic way.

The reality is we do have hundreds of thousands of miles/km of pipeline that operate relatively free of major disaters. The Keystone pipeline will be approved in some form or another.

Thee biggest myths that the right are perpetrating about Keystone is:

      -the jobs numbers
      -the effect on gas prices

My real worry is about maintenance. We don't like spend money on infrastructure even when necessary.
